Lord of Qi is aware that people that live along the road are the poors. They wear dirty clothes, live in shanty, and got a low wage. Then he ask his prim minister, Guan Zhong, whether he can change their lives.
“Let’s cut down all the trees along the road,” he suggest.
His suggestion was, then carried out. In a year, those people lives seem to get better. They wear better clothes and new shoes.
Lord of Qi is curious about it an ask for the explanation. “Those trees is now vanished, they no longer give comfort to people in there” Guan Zhong replied. ”Before we cut it down, people in there always spare their time for gossiping and playing card under those trees. Some of them became lazy and spend their time sleeping. They should work. Now they don’t have a comfortable place. They can no longer playing card, sleeping, and gossiping. Therefore, they can live better. That’s why I ordered to cut down the trees.”
